Capitol Joins Forces with Area Scouts to Create Backpacks Full of Necessities for Homeless in Hennepin County, MN
‘We Got Your Back’ Campaign A Success Thanks to Hennepin County Scouts and Capitol Team
EAGAN, MN, August 3, 2017 – Capitol, the leading consumer electronics distribution source for residential systems and light commercial contractors, consumer electronics dealers, and premium incentive resellers, today announced that its “We Got Your Back” project was a resounding success, thanks to the combined efforts of local Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts, and Capitol employees.
Led by aspiring Eagle Scout, Logan Shea, scouts, scout leaders, and Capitol team members filled 100 backpacks with blankets and toiletries for distribution to the homeless.
“When planning this effort, we knew that everybody involved was 100% committed to helping the homeless in our area, but the sight of so many kids and adults working hard to support the less fortunate in Hennepin County was truly inspiring,” said Curt Hayes, President and CFO, Capitol. “I am very proud of everyone involved in this worthwhile project.”
As a show of support, Capitol bought 100 backpacks, and the company’s staff contributed a total of $1,500 to buy material for the blankets that will be tied by participating scouts, Hennepin County leaders, and Capitol employees. All work on behalf of the project took place at Capitol’s headquarters in Eagan on July 20 and 21.
Three different teams of Eagle Scouts distributed the filled backpacks to groups that are respectively devoted to helping the beneficiaries move out of the homeless support system, aid children in the Child Protective Area who are moved into protective custody, and shelter residents in their teens.
